The photo I had chosen was taken by LaMonte during another photography class. The photo depicts a large amount of insects gathering on a reed during a sunny day. The insects are ants walking amongst a hed of aphids. Aphids are a pest insect species, and are known to destroy crops. I had chosen this photo because it appeared to be intriguing to me. Upon research with Mr. Tom, I learned how the ants are using the aphids. Ants can actually milk aphids by rubbing their abdomens, or stomachs. This causes the aphids to produce honeydew, which the ants use as a food source.
