Ginny is a life-long Presbyterian, growing up in a small community church in upstate New York, relocating to Delaware in 1990. After more than 30 years in education and the corporate world, she retired in 2008 and soon realized that God had bigger plans for her future. With the support of New Castle Presbytery and the session of Presbyterian Church of the Covenant, she enrolled in the lay pastor program at Dubuque Theological Seminary. Ginny was commissioned as a Commissioned Ruling Elder (CRE) by New Castle Presbytery in May, 2011 and began an outreach for local mission in the nearby community of Edgemoor Gardens. Under her leadership and vision, EDGE for Tomorrow, LLC began a free after school program for at-risk elementary children in 2012. Today, this program provides a safe, loving and learning environment for at-risk children who reside in the Edgemoor, Bellefonte and Bellevue communities and attend the Mount Pleasant Elementary School. EDGE for Tomorrow programs work closely with our community partners to support local neighborhoods plagued by crime, drugs, and lack of socio-economic skills.
Ginny also serves in a part-time pastoral role at Church of the Covenant; teaching, preaching and sharing pastoral care. Living in Bear, Ginny enjoys filling her spare moments with cooking, reading and time with her family.
A life verse for Ginny that has inspired both her ministry and her personal life is Isaiah 43:18-19 (NIV): “Forget the former things; do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.”
